PPG PR1422 B-1/2 is a two-part polysulphide sealant designed for applications requiring a removable, fuel-resistant seal. It is commonly used for fuel tank access doors, form-in-place gaskets, and protective sealing where periodic inspection and disassembly are required.
This sealant is a manganese dioxide-cured polysulphide compound supplied as a thixotropic, low-sag paste, allowing controlled application using standard extrusion equipment or hand tools. Once cured at ambient conditions, it forms a flexible seal with good adhesion to common aerospace substrates while remaining removable when required. It maintains its sealing properties after exposure to aviation fuels, making it suitable for access panels, gasket formation, and protective sealing applications. The shorter working time of the B-1/2 classification allows faster progression of maintenance tasks compared to longer-working variants, supporting efficient turnaround in routine maintenance.
